QNAP heeft vier nas-systemen aangekondigd met AMD-quadcores. Het gaat om twee 8bay-modellen, een 6bay-variant en een 4bay-nas. Een van de 8bay-modellen krijgt standaard een 10GbE-poort.

De opslagsystemen in de TVS-x63-serie krijgen een AMD Embedded G-Series-soc met vier cores, een kloksnelheid van 2,4GHz en een Radeon-gpu. De chips zorgen onder andere voor ondersteuning van maximaal 16GB werkgeheugen, hardwarematige encryptiemogelijkheden en ondersteuning voor AMD-V-virtualisatie.

De systemen hebben verder sata 600-aansluitingen, twee gigabit-lan-poorten, pci-e en 10GbE. Ook zijn er vijf usb 3.0-poorten en is er twee keer hdmi. QNAP rust de TVS-863+ standaard uit met 10GbE en dit 8bay-model krijgt daarnaast 8GB werkgeheugen. De TVS-863 is een variant met 4GB ram, terwijl de TVS-663 het met zes drivebays en evenveel werkgeheugen moet doen. De TVS-463 tenslotte is een 4bay-model met 4GB ram. Later deze maand moeten de nas-systemen op de markt komen voor nog onbekende prijzen.

Parrot heeft op de CES de RNB6 getoond, een infotainmentsysteem op basis van Android 5.0 en dat compatibel is met zowel Android- als iOS-mobieltjes. De RNB6 gebruikt een 7" ips pro-touchscreen voor de bediening.

Het infotainmentsysteem van Parrot heeft een 'double din'-formaat en bevat een 7"-ips-touchscreen met een resolutie van 1366x768 pixels. Ook is een 55W audioversterker in de RNB6 opgenomen, terwijl aan het systeem ook nog een 1080p-dashcam kan worden gekoppeld.

Parrot gebruikt een aangepaste Android 5.0-versie voor het systeem. De RNB6 kan onder andere gebruikt worden voor navigatie, handsfree bellen, het afspelen van mediabestanden en het raadplegen en aansturen van diverse systemen van een auto, zoals de airco en een parkeerassistent. Tevens kan het infotainmentsysteem zowel Android Auto als Apple CarPlay gebruiken om een verbinding te leggen met een eventuele smartphone, en Parrot belooft uitgebreide audioinstellingen om de geluidsweergave in auto's te optimaliseren. Ook kan de chauffeur stemcommando's geven aan het systeem. Wanneer de RNB6 beschikbaar komt en wat de adviesprijs zal zijn, wil Parrot nog niet kwijt.

Google heeft op basis van zijn Chromecast-technologie een uitbreiding van zijn Cast-protocol aangekondigd. Hierdoor kan bijvoorbeeld met behulp van een smartphone muziek draadloos gestreamd worden naar een speaker. Sony, Denon en LG komen met compatibele speakers.

De Google Cast for Audio-technologie haalt de content net als bij Chromecast direct van streaming audiodiensten. Volgens Google zijn onder andere Deezer, Google Play Music, iHeartRadio, NPR One, Pandora, Rdio en TuneIn al compatibel met de dienst. Spotify wordt nog niet genoemd.

Google laat verder weten dat diverse elektronicafabrikanten Cast for Audio gaan ondersteunen. Zo zullen in de VS in het voorjaar speakers van onder andere Sony, LG en Heos van Denon beschikbaar komen, terwijl chipfabrikanten als Broadcom, Marvell en Mediatek ook ondersteuning voor het nieuwe protocol hebben toegezegd. Meer merken zouden later dit jaar met productaankondigingen komen, zo belooft de internetgigant, terwijl de Cast-technologie op termijn ook beschikbaar moet komen op consoles, televisies en settopboxen die op Android draaien.

Panasonic heeft maandag op de CES-beurs in Las Vegas een prototype getoond van een blu-ray-speler die overweg kan met 4k-video. Daarmee is de elektronicafabrikant voor zover bekend de eerste die met een speler komt voor zulke content.

De speler ondersteunt 4k-video met een resolutie van 3840 bij 2160 pixels. Daarmee loopt het Japanse elektronicaconcern naar eigen zeggen voorop als het gaat om het toepassen van de nieuwe standaard voor 4k-content op blu-ray-schijfjes. Naar verwachting zullen die gebruikte technologie voor uhd-video namelijk later doorgang vinden in de volgende generatie standaarden, die dit jaar verschijnen.

Het Panasonic-prototype ondersteunt de zogeheten BT.2020-standaard voor uhd-televisies, die ervoor is bedoeld om veel meer kleuren weer te kunnen geven dan bijvoorbeeld 'normale' blu-rays of dvd's. Verder biedt de speler ook compressie dankzij het ondersteunen van de H265/hevc-standaard, wat ertoe moet leiden dat data met birates tot 100Mbit/s kunnen worden gelezen.

Panasonic laat nog niets los over wanneer de speler precies op de consumentenmarkt verschijnt. Ook zegt het bedrijf niets over de adviesprijs. Wel benadrukt Panasonic dat het hard blijft werken aan de adoptie van 4k-content, iets wat het onder andere probeert te bewerkstelligen via de UHD Alliance. Dat is nieuw een samenwerkingsverband van fabrikanten en contentproducenten om de consumptie van 4k-content aan te jagen en de 4k-technologie te verbeteren.

Op de CES-beurs in Las Vegas heeft Sony zijn nieuwe televisies voor 2015 voorgesteld. De nieuwe 4k-televisies zijn voorzien van Android TV en krijgen een speciale processor mee om de beeldkwaliteit te verbeteren.

De meest in het oog springende nieuwe Sony-tv is de dunne X90C, die verkrijgbaar zal zijn met schermdiagonalen van 55" en 65" en is voorzien van een uhd-beeldpaneel. Volgens Sony is de X90C de dunste lcd-televisie ter wereld, doordat de dikte, gemeten op het dunste punt, slechts 4,9 millimeter bedraagt. Ook levert Sony een speciale beugel mee waarmee de tv zonder tussenruimte aan een muur gehangen kan worden. Om de strakke muurmontage mogelijk te maken zijn er enkel aan de boven- en onderkant van de behuizing ventilatiesleuven aanwezig.

Sony's 2015-televisies met 4k-paneel zijn allemaal voorzien van Sony's 'X1'-processor, die helderheid, kleur en contrast van het bronmateriaal moet verbeteren. De beeldkwaliteit van bronmateriaal van lagere kwaliteit wordt volgens Sony daarmee opgewaardeerd naar 'bijna 4k-kwaliteit'. Daarnaast worden alle televisies met een 4k-paneel voorzien van Android TV. Ook de nieuwe W75C-, W80C- en W85C-modellen, die met een full hd-paneel zijn uitgerust, krijgen Android TV. Goedkopere full hd-televisies moeten het met Sony's eigen smart-tv-software doen. De nieuwe modellen zullen vanaf februari beschikbaar zijn.

Er zijn inderdaad wat zaken anders aangepakt tov de Reference II series, maar om nu direct m'n RF7-II's buiten te gooien ... don't think so

Ik zou ze toch wel eens willen beluisteren mischien ooit. De nieuwe TRACTRIX hoorn ziet er wel gelikt uit! De nieuwe drivers zijn ook 8" tov de huidige 10" voor de II-series.

Klipsch has announced the debut of its "Reference Premiere Wireless Home Theater speakers" at CES 2015 The wireless system consists of tower speakers RP-440WF, monitor speakers RP-140WM and a center channel speaker RP-440WC that features a two-way design and utilizes the same driver and horn technology as the brand’s debuting Reference Premiere series. Sharp just announced a new line of UHDTV's

The budget level UB30 come in 4 screen sizes ranging from 43" to 65" and $750 to $2300, respectively. Their next lineup called the UE30 include 4 models from 60" to 80" starting at $2k and up to $6k for the 80incher. Their flagship UH30 come in 70" and 80" models priced at $3200, $6000, respectively and feature Spectros Rich Color and THX 4K certification.
