PLAYSTATION TV TO LAUNCH IN THE US & EUROPE FOR $99

By Rasmus Larsen ( @flatpanels ) 10 Jun 2014 More Sharing Services0 Comment

Sony will bring its small PS Vita TV box to the US and Europe later this year. It will be renamed to PlayStation TV and can act as a companion device to give you PS4 games in your bedroom. It also supports TV apps and Sony’s PlayStation Now streaming service.

PS VITA TV RENAMED TO PLAYSTATION TV PlayStation TV is built on Sony’s handheld PS Vita game console, but is instead a box for your home. The idea is to let you play PS Vita games on the big screen, but it can do far more than that.

If you also own a PlayStation 4, the PlayStation TV box can connect to your PS4 and let you play PS4 games on a secondary TV in your bedroom, children’s room or somewhere else in the house.

Another great feature is PlayStation Now, which is Sony’s new game streaming service that will let you stream PlayStation games directly from Sony’s servers. You do not have to physically own the games. PlayStation Now will launch in the US this summer and later in Europe.

Lastly, PlayStation TV supports TV apps. Sony has not confirmed the launch line-up, but it presumably includes Sony’s own Music Unlimited and Video Unlimited services. We would be surprised if Netflix was not included, too.

PlayStation TV will launch in the US and Europe later this year for $99 / €99. For $139 you will also get a DualShock 3 controller, an 8GB memory card, an HDMI cable and a copy of the Lego Movie video game.
